Actually was thinking of watching tv away to spend the last moments before i turn 21. As usual messages were sent to me...well wishes...
I was watching this documentary on channel newsasia, entitled, I'm special, but I'm ok.
As i am pondering the reasons behind spending my birthday walking in town in solitude, there are people out there who can't even enjoy some of the simple pleasures i deem important in life.
I spend the last few moments of my 20 looking at disabled youths who had juz learnt how to use the computer at the most rudimentary stage, how they use touch screen to tell people what they wan due to their speech defects...etc.
My heart really goes out to those people had been in the clutches of the tsunamis. It was indeed unbelievable, that the death tolls can reach so high to challenge any kind of genocide or massarce in the history of mankind.
It was reported that according to stipulation, half the dealth toll could be that of children.
Despite the hiccups behind the initial reactions from various countries, it is heart-warming to see the enthusiasm behind the relieft efforts coming from our own singaporeans.
I muz say that when a bikini was donated, and the reporter took it to tell people to stop donating things that are of no value to these now impoverished children. Oh well it was quite hilarious actually, to see the reporter doing that. Bikini....high.. my sadistic colleagues were saying that probably the donater wanted some more people to go surfing or sunbathing to encourage more tourists to come. Make absolutely no sense huh?
It is heart-wrenching, to see pictures of corpses on the bulletin board in thailand,indonesia..etc. It muz be quite a moment, for the family of these victims....
I guess nobody can escape even when the earth shrugs....
