Gona have dinner with parents soon..they wanna go tampines some good eating places to LAO Yu SHENG. I see that as a cultural practice, not a religious kind of practice, so i always go/participate with my family members.
Jus had a arduous journey to the WEST...of coz with no disciples, to IKEA to get my photo frames. When i came back home, have to go down to develop 4 pics in monochrome, with white border. Can u believe it, it was a maid at the counter servicing me. She was on the phone flirting with a guy lor.....can understand some ger chunky bits of english... I was like waiting down there, while she slowly let me choose the pics from the cd i pass to her.
Anyway i have little time now but still wish to type down some thoughts for today.
Today i have BIC at the sispec. All sect coms have to crawl with ur men, mind you. Long time never crawl....it was FREAKING SHAG! But i am quite pretentious over my actual state of mind. I tried to remain calm in front of my men. Anyway one of my men actually got stuck inside the wire entanglement! Can u believe it...?
Hai everyday i have been listening to both versions of the Phantom of the Opera. One from the movie, the other from the actual play by Sarah brightman and Michael Crawford. My gd pal compile the songs for me.
Under a comparison, i realise something that many ppl are wrong about. I actually find that Phantom in the movie is so much better than Michael Crawford in the actual play(believe it or not). I find that the Michael Crawford doesn't really bring out that deep sorrowful voice of Phantom...Michael's voice is kinda too high..and weird..(funny too).
On the same point, Sarah's voice is indubitably good, but she sounded too "technical" if you know what i mean. She sings too "powerfully", using too much of vibrato...spoiling that innocent,dove-like image of Christine....
In the song "wishing you were somehow here again", Sarah doesn't seem to bring out that longing in christine for her father....that sadness... However, i muz say that Sarah has this crystalline voice that i can never find in any sopranos..quite unique.
After hearing the original play, i really prefer the version from the movie. Thumbs up for the movie!... (Raoul inside the play is so dead....doesn't have that lover-of-CHristine voice; haha)
