Sunburnt on Tuesday, April 12, 2005
Yesterday was the first day of work and today of coz the second. I wrote a whole chunk of blog juz now when suddenly the internet got disconnected and everything is gone. I am so freaking pissed...
Anyway i was late yesterday...for 15 min. I went to the wrong block, i ran and ran coz i know i was late, of all days but on the first day of work. I reached the door step, tried to push open the glass doors, but they wun bulge even an inch. I tried umpteen times but was futile. Phew...lucky the office is not opened yet. But wait, there are lights inside, definitely ppl are inside right? I called the office but was engaged...Suddenly an intercom or doorbell sort of thing caught the corner of my eye. As i slowly approached it, i feel a kind of sick pit inside my stomach... I am aware of the inevitable, that i am late. I pressed it, and to my horror someone really say an "hello?" I muttered my presence and a gal came to open the door for me.
Desmond, an elderly white-haired wizard, was the GM. He sat me down at the conference room and brief me about my job scope, even instructing me to go wipe those driping sweat from the forehead. My HP rang and rang, vibrate i should say. I took a glimpse at it, it was Pearly, the agency consultant. Desmond had called her to inquire of my attendance. I later called her back to assure her everything was alright. Come on, i wun make her lose this client. :)
Well there are altogether 4 main staff in the office, Lilian, Jesline, Adeline and Hazel. They are the Sales head, sales rep, finance coordinator and the buyer respectively. Oh no..i actually have to take over Jesline's job coz she is taking leave to study for exams.
Adeline is a funny gal who is plump and sweet. When we went lunch with her, she bought back kuehs from Bengawan Solo and then asked us to go help ourselves during some short break. She can fill the whole office with her crazy laughter which never fail to make me break into laughing fits too..
Jesline taught me how to use JDE system on the computer. I have to first check the price quotation, then check the stock, then key in the sales order before recording it.
The ppl there are so amicable..so nice..
Sometimes i help Hazel and Lilian with some admin data entry as well as sorting out some files.
Whole day long my eyes were glued to the pc screeeeeen. Nevertheless i learn new stuff. Fun.
We went to Bendemeer food center for lunch today. Was reminiscing of those days when my parents often brought us down to this food center to eat coz my relatives live around kallang bahru, juz a few stops away. Love the food there, despite having renovated with a cleaner kind of ambience.
Today i took 65 there and took the same bus back. The coming back was faster ...much to be suprise. The bus was pretty empty. Anyway my colleagues were so stunned to see me eat a $4.5 worth of Yang Tau Foo. They gave me a huge oval bowl instead of a small round one...scary? Ok lar..better than cookhouse food in army ok. This is real food.
