Was chatting with this ex-recruit of mine online when suddenly i tok about my little brother and how i had almost exhausted any form of ideas to encourage him to study diligently for his examinations and tests.
It became a heated discussion of how unempathetic i was..
It dawned upon me that this recruit (justin) of mine actually is also the youngest in the family and all his siblings had done pretty well in their studies and work while he wallow in self-pity, continuing to neglect his studies coz he felt that there was no need to study hard since his sibling had done well.
My fren kept persuading me to "coax" or even to speak nicely to my brother to encourage him to study. I really doubt that pacification can do any good to him. I mean, seriously, he will not take me seriously when i speak nicely to him.
Nowadays, he is on the phone and playing online games with frens all at the same time, despite failing his two core subjects.
I told him to end the game, he told me he created the game and all his frens are all linked to this game. I replied with a cold answer, "so?".
He reluctantly ended the game and stormed out of the room.
FOr this june holidays, i have thought of getting assessment books for him do but my fren actually asked me to seek my little brother's permission first before i go buy the books. I was real pissed to hear that from justin(recruit)...And he even added on it's coz of respect. Respect? Come on, considering my brother's performance in his studies, you wan to talk about respecting him, asking him before buying assessment books for him to do? Oh pls, tell me about it.
On and on justin told me that i should look from my brother's point of view, coz parents will definitely compared him to all his brothers..and he will juz feel super bad and even purposely dun do well in his studies. This might be true...however..i juz ...feel that i can't give up...at least not now.
If my parents ain't doing anything about it, i should start by asking to stop playing games online. I never stop him from using the pc for msn, frenster..(less time consuming) but i have strictly limit his usage on the pc now.
Oh well...at his age, frens are everything ... but somehow his generation and ours during secondary school is totally worlds apart..
