My pc juz is lagging beyond hope. It juz got hung by itself while i am doing my stuff. Freaking irritating!
Yesterday's service at the FCBC was pretty ok to me. Juz a tiny bit of discomfort thats all. There are alot of things i find it difficult to comment, esp right infront of steve. Coz i dun wish to really dampen or affect his worship on that day. Not that i can really do that anyway.
Ok. Rubbish aside. Hmmm FCBC is quite a big church from what i had heard. Yeap and the church service itself really bears certain resemblance to a concert thingy since it is held in a big auditorium with 2 levels.
I mentioned b4 that i dun really like to hold up my hands to praise the Lord...coz i dun really feel like doing that.
When i was at the church, i keep asking God to remind me to avoid any unfounded or self-determined judgement. I know that i am pretty fond of doing that.
That was the shortest church service that i had ever attended. I had hoped that the sermon portion could be slightly longer. Esp when the "Lord's prayer" in matthew weren't really completely touched on.
Steve mentioned to me that i can be pretty technical at times...and sometimes i really agree on that..
I told steve that i was pretty distracted by his pastor's charismatic gestures while preaching the sermon..and the whole while i was really listening to his doctrines.
As expected, the church members praise God in their dancing and lifting up of hands which of coz i have no right to comment on that, even though i am uncomfortable with that.
Steve intro me to his cell group members, erm like his cell group leader, Jerome, and the rest. A young bunch of young students.
After the service we packet some food from the hawker at marine parade and went to some void deck for some sharing session.
THe session ended with Jerome praying...and i was pretty caught off guard when he started praying in tongues.
The last time i heard this 'tongues' thingy was when in sec4 when Liyue prayed for my family over the phone regarding their salvation.
Tongues apparently had been kind of a controversy in so many churches..
Steve told me that we should set aside this differences in opinions towards this tongues issue and to really see God as who He really is. To some extent i agree on that..but somehow if certain doctrinal issues are not resolved...it became quite a big tripping stone for me. The Bible is not self-contradictory. It never "is" meant to be anyway. So there shouldn't be doctrinal differences or even variations. I find it pretty difficult to come to terms on that.
That sermon by the pastor yesterday was ok, reminding me the essence behind the "template" for the prayer to God.
One thing i did realise is that i find that cell group sometimes can a bit of result-oriented. I mean all of us as christians are always very prone to that too..
I believe a good sermon should focus on the key points, with bible references aplenty. Usually a sermon should always end with something that i can bring back for this coming week. Perhaps even at the end of the sermon, we should gather as brothers or sisters, to think about the sermon and to really for one another with regards to those pointers in God's Word.
As a whole..i told steve, the service was alright, but not really a church that i can identify and grow up in. Anyway, steve was fine with that. THank God for that.
