An idiot like me should learn how to be contented. 10/15 should be a score i am happy with for my physics despite falling short of my expectation.

Today at the mentoring was a great one. Jimi and I were in charge of the games for today. The guys are generally quite obedient for today.

Win lose or draw seems to be a all time classic game for these kids. They enjoy it very much, after which they play another game that was hosted by Jimi.

Nothing much to blog about today coz it's another round of mugging for today. Tmr should be going library to do my position paper.

Still waiting a reply from SS tutor to feedback about my essay draft.

Tmr another day of tuition across my block.

On and on and on....

Today lim teh and I went back to NASS. Oh yes, we saw plenty of familiar teachers, as well as some new faces. I dun understand those reactions of Miss Gan and Mrs Pong. They were like ????
Miss Gan: "How come u change until like tat?" (she keep pointing to her ear). Obviously she is referring to my earring.
Mrs Pong: "last time u came back not like that wat.."

Halo..that is like so long ago right. Whats with that bling bling. Anyway i asked lim teh if i should start taking it down. But heck care in the end.
Had lunch with mrs sim, walked around the library, then talked to mrs teh...etc.

I didn't noe that lip tong's interviewer for his teaching thingy was the Ngee Ann principal. Wat a coincidence. Mrs Teh :"Wa..last time i remember lip tong very plump and short one. Now he come back i couldn't even recognise him!"
Oh well..he has ORDed hehe. Note that subtle hidden meaning.

After that went to pluck my teeth. As usual that dentist is flashing that smile of his, asking me how am i and stuff. Then there he goes, heading for that gaping hole of mine. This time round..the surgery was fine...faster than i had thought...and i was relieved it was over before i knew it. The point is Peirong is there! There to answer my queries as well as telling me all the procedures in claiming my money from the dental surgery. The medisave will not be covering extraction she said. I believe everything she said without any slightest doubt. I think she is the sweetest gal on Earth. Too bad...next friday taking out my stitches...probably my last time seeing her...but then again..once i have the money i am going to do the root canal treatment.
Oh ya Mdm Siap...like to wear ntuc clothes

My mum always says i have this great affinity with kids. Dunno why. My tuition on tuesday this week with Ethyl was one that really made me feel so sad for the two sisters. For one, their parents are hardly at home whenever i was there. Her mother was actually having guzheng lesson during my tuition timing and their dad is always overseas working.

I was in the midst of teaching Ethyl when her little sis said she saw daddy's car downstairs. They went to the window and started to staring downwards and agreed that it was their dad's car. After some time, they found that their dad took too long a time to come up and started calling him. His dad in the end went to downtown east with his colleague and left his car in the carpark.

5 minutes before the ending time, Ethyl said, "teacher can u read us a story?". I was like ok lor... since i was tired, and when i am tired i will be in this cranky mood for nonsensical stuff. So i kind of goof around with them. Making stupid actions they really made them go into hysterical fits. Girls at their age can really make those shrieking sounds that it's beyond any decibels tat ordinary person can endure. I read in all 5 very short stories to them. It's really fun to them laugh so hard, fun to see them enjoying life right at that innocent moment, when nothing seems to be bothering them at all.

Ya and in the end they asked me to go see their fishes at the balcony...and pointed to me their favourite Xiao Hei, small blackie. Erm...that kind of reminds me of my army encik. That was the nickname we gave him, Xiao Hei. Coz he really barks like one black dog. We often called him a shapeshifter, one who could interchangeably transform between human and dog, a black one. By the way he's an indian. Indians makes good disciplinarian. Seriously...if u noe what i mean. Remember mrs Sundram. Wonder where is she now?

Today i was back to Salso Chemicals and was told to file up some stuff and updating of BZ cards(as usual). There were so many papers that had so many chemical compounds. Ever since december last year, i came across compounds such as acrylic acid, methyl acetate, propylene, let me see, MIK, AIP..dunno what shit lar. Anyway i am sure my chemistry frens might like them.
As usual i saw those familar faces as well as new faces. The usual "hi bye" affair is always exchanged. They are nice people who always ask me to go ahead and drink the coffee, even though once that i mistakenly took their boss's cup. Irene walked up to me and said, "Nick ah, i think u took my boss's cup." I took a look at my cup, and the word 'i am the boss' was emblazoned on the cup explicitly. Oops.
To share a surrreptitious thing that i had done today, i actually listened to my online webcast lecture while i was working. I know i suck but i like multi-tasking. Especially when i can update my cards onto Outlook and listen to the lecture in mp3 format. Not very efficient coz i once in a while had to take a peep at the lecture. Peep coz i wouldn't wan to be caught doing that during working hours right? As if that wasn't enough..i was on msn as well. Boo me.
One day you also want to work ah? Many shot that question right into my face. Sigh..can't really help it. My tuition is like juz enough to pay my bus concession, my hp bill.
After a comedy and documentary on channel 8 about cab driver, i kind of feel more enlightened on the constraint my dad has always complained about. Sometimes i thought he was exaggerating whenever he told me he can earn only 50 or less dollars per night shift. But i guess there is this veracity to what he told me.
These days i still hold on to the dogma of never save money in sacrifice for food. Food is food. Food is good. Food is good for health. Food gives energy. But the key word is GOOD food. Haha. Thats why a morning hotcakes' meal will make my day a good one.
Tmr is the ordeal that i have to endure thru. Ladies and gentleman, welcome to a life that had been trampled upon by those stupid wisdom teeth. Whoever says wisdom teeth is a blessing for wisdom must be insane or autistic. They are a living curse, or at least they are, to me. Curse that involved parting away of $ to rid the pain. If that is not enough, my left jaw mirrored the same condition as my right jaw. If that is not enough i have to go through a second round of dilemma, to root canal or not to.
Root canal, for ur info is not under the medisave coverage. For my surgery tmr, i have to fill up some form in order to make deduction from my mum's medisave. Root canal for obvious profitable reasons wasn't under this medisave coverage. So i have chosen to pluck out juz 2 wisdom teeth from my left jaw first. The molar...will have to wait...
Come on 1200..for a tooth..and a series of dental visit to get it done? Wait till i am rich can?

And the Renu thing is really getting on my nerve. Can't they quickly get the lab report out? Waste my precious money in getting new one tmr. Sian. I juz can't stand wearing specs. Freaking incovenient. (not hiao ok)

Yesterday was as usual a mentoring day for me. Arriving at the primary school, I realised we were short of mentors. However, I juz had to make do with it and continue to go around asking the studens to take out their homework or whatever assignments they had been tasked to do. I was pretty fed up with the boys. The gals were quietly taking out their stuff to do while the boys were goofing around, playing a fool, refusing to bulge when i ask them to do work. One of them even insisted in playing computer games. Most of the time even if they were doing something, it was of perfunctory nature. Doing for the sake of doing...
Ya in the end i did shout at them, but i simply can't bring myself to really punish, or really manifest that evil side of me. Once it's being unleashed, thats it.
One of this boys, Kai Wee, slammed the door and went out in solitude after countless rejects in his "proposal" to play the computer games. He gave me reasons like "my house don't have any computers, i haven't been playing computers for a long time". After Liang Qiao went out to talk to him, he came back, and automatically went to switch on the computer.
I can't stand it. I walked right up to him, switched off the monitor and asked him:"Who says u can play the computer? You want to test me if i can release your name to your teacher is it?"
He retored:"Oh liang qiao says i can play wat, you don't believe you go ask him!"

I went out of the classroom, verified with Liang Qiao, and then stormed right up to him again and switch off his monitor again.
I shouted at him "You don't come and lie to him you understand? Liang Qiao says no.Go back to you seat now." I grabbed him by his arms and pulled him to his seat. Irritating piece of worthles shit.(**censored**)

By the time the session was done, wanted to ask Linda for lunch since she is nearby at Emmanuel House. In the end that xiao ja bor dun wan and since i wanted to go National Library i thought angel might want to go. Coincidently , she also wanted to go there to forage for her SS research materials. We went to L7 and then 11, then back to basement. The basement ,Central Lending Library, was freaking packed with people, in comparison to that tranquility you can find in those reference levels at the top.
After that we went Bugis for some early dinner, then went to Bras Basah Popular to take a look at he P4 Sci textbook coz i am teaching one P4 guy this sunday..and few blocks from my house somemore..yeappie.
I was perusing the Sunday Times and the news feature of today is "Your child's tutor may have duped you."
Kaozzz...duped...ma chiam putting drug inside your drink to "dupe" you like that.
I guess i wasn't silly after all. Why i say that. I remember my first lesson with my p4 girl on maths, i showed my matric card and my Bp mentoring booklet to her mother. Some of my frens thought that was a bit too "extra". Considering the advices provided in the newspaper article today, parents nownot only distrust tutors, but also the agents themselves. The article mentioned that some of the tutors were encouraged by the agents to lie about their tutoring background and grades. The latter being something that is morally unethical. I agree with a parent who argues that sometimes it's not about them trusting the tutor too much that they seldom made checks on them, it's because if they are really not "there" yet, it can be quite revealing in their teaching.
Now i am in a semi-panicky mode. There are so many "what ifs and what if nots" running through my mind. What if the parent wanted to supervise my teaching? For your info, the stratis times actually encourage the parents to do that. I can't teach with people staring at me teaching. I deserve some basic respect. Not that i am unempathetic about their concern for their children. Juz weird.
Last night finally draft out my essay outline for my SS. By the time i was done it was 1am. This morning my little brother woke me up and asked me wanted to do down for breakfast or not. I was really drained of energy yet it was one miracle that he actually asked me to go down for breakfast. I thought he will be glu-ing his eyes to the monitor screen which he is doing now. So i dragged myself to go down lor.
Monday is my industrial visit to PSA and also my ISE family day...tuesday is my working day with Irene at SGX centre, wednesday visit ngee ann with linda, SHIT...where got time for position paper discussion...SHIT...sian.

96% of our comrades in singapore had favoured the capital punishment(sunday times today) as a deterrence for future drug trafficking offenses, as well as other heinous crimes. Despite the protests by the Australians, Singapore has gone ahead with the hanging of australian Nguyen Tuong Van for drug trafficking in singapore.
It's a good sign that singaporeans unanimously stand by this death penalty despite other countries who are doing it away totally.
I remembered i got this relative whom i am not that close with. The "grandma" was the second wife of my maternal grandfather who was a Thai chinese. She got this son who had gotten into drug trafficking offence and was due for a dealth penalty. My parents and aunt had gone to see him for the last time in the prison. Apparently they were childhood mates because that feud between first and second wives was never in existent back those times. They were pretty close.
All i remember was that i went for his funeral, in some funeral parlour. Don't ask me why it wasn't held under some block or something. I really dunno. But seeing my grandma so calm and composed that night really makes me feel all the more sad for her.
For the past 3 years, there were in all 35 people who were hanged. Whether this number is significantly large i am not sure.

Was juz reading the Sunday Times when i came across this article about "Opus Dei". Interestingly, the spokesman for this group in the US had tried to fight back the disdain for the group by many because of "Da Vinci Code".
It really creeps me to know that people still apply practices of corporal mortification to their lives. That "cilice" thingy sounds so creepy. Considering a barbed chain tied to ur leg, as well as whipping urself as part of the daily rituals, wouldn't it be such a morbid routine to endure?
All these were claimed to remind followers of the ordeal of Christ. Must it be so drastic?

Furthermore, the group seems to segregate men and women in the most explicit manner: Different entrances for different gender. Weird.

It will be so difficult for them to re-gain the trust and understanding, if any by the mass public, considering the blockbuster that is going to be released in May this year. Look, the hue of anticipation for the movie is already there for, compounded by the colossal sales from the book.
Oh by the way, the names of their members were kept in secrecy, and this surreptitious nature of their group has sparked many to name them as a "cult".
Cult or not, I believe these people are juz egocentric, basing on their own merits to gain favor? Like human efforts are going to help.
That doesn't mean that i agree with the content of Da Vinci Code, don't get me wrong. The idea of the bloodline thingy is simply too absurd to endure. I prefer Dan Brown's "Angels and Demons", which provides a close nexus between Science and "Religion".
