Ya and so i have received that letter about the money, have you? If not better panic coz the government dun wan to give you!
Come on, wats that big hoo haa over the money.? Being happy and excited is one thing, being paranoid that everybody has "the letter" and you don't is a terrible kind of stress you got urself into. Ok so what have you guys got? I dunno. 900 for me is good enough i think. =)
What is disappointment? Disappointment is when i set aside time to watch American Idol and to my dismay it was a hell of a performance today. First came Lisa, the 17 year old gal who sang the rendition of "Because of you" by none other than Kelly Clarkson, the old bird for American Idol. Like what the judges had said, it was a wrong choice of song she had chosen, first because it's too risky to choose a song that had been overplayed over the radio. For the fact that people are so used to listening to it that people and of coz the judges are craving for a special treatment to the song, and not juz a "cut and copy" kind of feel. Secondly, Lisa is a great young contestant but she doesn't have the sonorous voice Kelly possess juz for that song crafted for her. In the end, it was obvious Lisa struggle with some of the notes and she doesn't carry off the charisma of that song very well. However, i do hope she will stay for another week.
The series of performances wasn't that good either. Katherine (BOO), Mandissa (BOO), Taylor(BOO). Not that i tend to follow the sentiments of the judges or watsoever but the three of them really didn't meet that mark today. Katherine singing "The Voice Within" by Christina Aguilera. Her treatment for that song sounds freaking weird. Yes i noe you guys wanna bring some novelty to the song, but NOT in that sense. The song started at weird part also, which on the whole sounds so abrupt. I mean come on, Katherine Mcphee, you are so talented, so well trained, choose other songs lar. "The Voice Within"? No no no.
I am not going to talk about that grey-haired Taylor, coz i dun even noe that song he is singing and for me personally i didn't really like it thats all.
Now came Mandissa....was really looking forward to what she is singing. Ok nothing wrong her singing gospel song ..But...but.. that song she chooses didn't really accentuate that impressive vocal range she possesses. Ended up it was juz a normal kind of singing for her, no climax to the song, but the song is a great uplifting worship song.
Guess whos the best tonight. It was PARIS. She sang a rendition of "work it out" by beyonce knowles. It was MARVELLOUS. Was it coz she was being compared to those who had chosen wrong songs? Perhaps. But she was really great. It was funny to see her dance like beyonce coz she look a like super tiny mini beyonce. Very cute. =)
Now the competition is getting more interesting. Black horse emerging? =)

No, i am not tired of blogging.
Yes i am busy.
Don't really wan to go back to the cycle of complaining about school work. Coz i guess joy can be derived in various ways of my own. Nowdays i come home early on wed and thurs juz to catch my American Idol. This season is real cool. The contestants really each got their own unique charisma. My favourite three are Katherine McPhee (not aunt "Mcphee" the movie =) , Mandisa, and of course Taylor Hicks. Taylor is that grey-haired guy who was constanly persuaded to dye his hair black. Though the hair did make him look a bit father-like, but his charisma in singing is so uplifting. He is both a singer and a performer. Entertaining.
Mandisa, undoubtedly, is one of the "powerhouse" juz like the young girls, Paris and Lisa. Mandisa's vocal range is undeniably one of the best amongst the contestants. I like her rendition of "I'm Every Woman". Katherine on the other hand seem to be on the slanted advantage because of her obvious vocal training from her mother, who is a vocal coach. She can sing difficult song so effortlessly, which was what the judges had often said. Her nuances of singing displayed much of her air of confidence. In the latest episode, she was predicted by one of the judges to be in the finale of this season. How true this prediction is, nobody knows.
What i like about this season is also because of the various characteristic of each singer. Some obviously chose the route of country, some rock, some semi-rock (if there is such term), some pop-rock, some using falsetto to woo the crowd (Ace Young). I don't really think his falsetto is that appealing. The chicken little is out. Though i am not a fan of his, but i mus say his rendition of "when i fall in love" is pretty alluring. He who claimed that he can be the "sex symbol" of the AMerican Idol had been rid of the chance to embarrass himself. TIme to eat a humble pie man.
Katherine Mcphee did remind many people so much of Kelly Clarkson. Simon Cowell mention that in last week's performances. May be a less "ah lian" version of Kelly Clarkson ba.
Tmr is my test, so i have decided to finally take a due break to blog.
I am happy also because my tutor had replied me to the draft i had sent her of my second SS essay on Rajaratnam. She said it was excellent and creative. Good thing nothing major that i have to change or else my weekend is doomed. got to sleep.zzzzzzzzz

I figure that lim teh is going to blog about "The Light Affair". Last night we were lounging at the century square coffee bean as usual, and she donned herself with a tunic. Ya a tunic haha.
Anyway, on our way back we were watching this Light Affair dating show on the Tvmobile. It was a filthily ugly immoral nonsensical show. Thats all i could say.
Question posed to the gals were like "what do you wear to bed", and other suggestive questions. For the guys, they were asked what kind of comments they received from their last bed experience. It was super explicit, if you are not dumb enough to skip those meanings, meanings of one night stand? Erm, pre-marital sex? Well...we were dumbfounded by the quality of this program and the kind of message it is driving through. Utterly disappointed.
Well...I never really go S/U my Evolution of a global city state after all. Heck care lar. I like the module anyway. So i guess the passion for it is important ba.
Lim teh told me about the NUS dental services and today i went to register for it. For 287++ you actually get free dental services for year round, ranging from scaling polishing,to fillings..to watever things that could have aggregate to a cost bomb to our small student pockets. Well..my mum was pretty adverse to the idea..but i manage to persuade her to help me pay it off first..rather than delaying that stupid root canal treatment right.
I found out that Crowing wasn't under the insurance, but i guess with the root canal treatment being a free servcie, it's more than good enough. At most, dun crown lor, juz made do with some filling.
But overall i think it's a worthwhile sum for a year round freen dental service. The trauma of my wisdom teeth saga had blossomed into my diligence in taking better care of my teeth. I thought my mum was exaggerating when she told me a toothache is worst than her child labor when she had me. Having going through those sleepless nights really make me all the more wanting to take good care of them.
To ppl who are neglecting their teeth..dun wait too long to check your teeth..you will REGRET! Haha. In the end you will spend even more.
